I didn’t grow up gardening; prior to farming I lived in a city and didn’t know the magic of seeds. But soon after the birth of my first child, I decided to think about what to do for a profession (I knew that I no longer wanted to work in a corporate job). So, while my first-born napped in my arms, I began to meditate, and it came to me like a loud whisper: Flowers!
She wasn’t sure why she heard that word since she had never grown more than a few tomatoes, but when her husband came home from his 48-hour shift as a firefighter, she told him, “I need to plant flowers” and that’s how Florecita began. With two rows of zinnias and dahlias from seed, Natalie started farming and the farm has grown alongside her two beautiful children who were its inspiration. Those first few seeds bloomed into a thriving flower farm and design studio that is Florecita.
welcome
At Florecita we know that native plants and soil health are true climate solutions. The food web that humans rely upon begins with insects. By improving our soil and planting natives we are helping to keep birds, insects and many species from going extinct, which has an almost immediate impact on the health of our planet. We teach all that we know to our beautiful community because we hope that you will plant a garden, fall in love with plants, and take little steps each day to improve the fate of our Earth.
